There are 50 Things You Need to Know about Creating Morning Habits: How to Be More Productive, Healthy, and Accomplish Your Goals

Morning habits are important for your health and well-being 

  1. Allows you to reflect on the upcoming day and plan what you plan to do. 

In order to plan your day, you’ll need to have morning habits or a morning routine in place before getting out of bed in the morning. Your morning will run much more smoothly than you ever thought possible because you won’t be running around like crazy trying to figure out what to do.

  1. Reduces Your Stress Level- at Least for the Mornings. 

You are able to go through a routine, even if you do not think about it, without having to think about it. This frees your mind to think about other things, which means that you can have a much more productive day and be much happier and healthier. 

  1. Takes only a few minutes to complete. 

In the morning, once you have a morning routine in place, you will find that you have more time to do other things than you used to. You’ll be going through it without having to focus so much on it and therefore, you’ll be able to enjoy your mornings. 

  1. If you want to enjoy the morning, you will have plenty of time to do so. 

Having a morning routine in place is very important, as once this has been implemented you will no longer have to worry about it. There will be plenty of time for you to enjoy your coffee, tea, and newspaper- or even watch the news if you want to. 

  1. There will be plenty of time for you to be grateful. 

By keeping a morning routine, you will be able to take the time you need to sit down and think about your blessings before getting started on dealing with the problems of the day. As busy as life can be, we don’t always have the time to reflect back on all that we are thankful for in the evenings.

It is possible to make a morning routine that works for you. You don’t have to follow the same routine every day. It is up to you to do what you need to do and make it work for you personally. In case you find that something you are doing isn’t working after getting into it, then you can change it if you wish to change it.

Having a routine as a child is something I wish I had learned when I was a kid. I remember how crazy the mornings used to be at my house when I was a kid. After I have become an adult (as well as a mom), I try to instill a sense of responsibility in my children so that they learn how to be responsible and make sure that they do the things that they need to do (even when it is challenging with teenagers). 

  1. Makes you feel as if you have something to rely on. 

Despite our best efforts, life is not always dependable. We can be thrown off course by events that are out of our control. In any case, one thing that you can rely on is your morning routine- it tends to remain the same each day. You have a cushion of time even if something unexpected happens, so you aren’t completely thrown off your course as a consequence. 

  1. You will be able to be more productive and successful. 

It is important to create your own “to do” lists, to have a plan in place on how to accomplish your “to do” lists, so that you can be more productive and successful. There is a possibility of you achieving that promotion that you desire at work. 

  1. Makes you feel refreshed when you wake up in the morning. 

As the first step to a good morning routine begins the night before (as you will see), you will be able to get the sleep you require and therefore will be able to wake up feeling rested and ready to face the day. Having a good night’s sleep will enable the brain to properly process the effects of sleep so that you will function much better the next day. 

Don’t wait until the morning to start your day

  1. Start your dishwasher and load the dishes. 

As mentioned earlier, running your appliances during the evening will also assist you in saving money because typically, during off-peak hours, the rates are lower. Moreover, if you load and run the dishwasher in the evenings, you will save time the next morning because you will not wake up with dirty dishes in the sink. 

  1. You will need to set up the coffee pot. 

Like me, you enjoy waking up to a hot cup of coffee in the morning. In the morning, if you have set up the coffee pot and the timer the night before, you won’t be stumbling into the kitchen to make coffee before you start your day. You cannot beat the smell of fresh coffee wafting through the house when you wake up in the morning. 

  1. Write down your “To Do” list. 

Plan what you will do the following day when you sit down. Make a list of all the tasks that you have to complete, such as appointments, projects that need to be completed, and other things that you need to do. As a result, you can make a better decision about what things you should gather and what clothes you should wear for the tasks you have set for yourself. 

  1. Make sure you have everything you need on the day of your event together. 

Gather everything you need to complete your “to do” list, including all of your paperwork and anything else you may need to do so. I would highly recommend you to make sure that your children make sure they have all their homework together and any papers you need to sign are signed by them. Having all of these items near your door will make it a lot easier for you (and the kids) to pick them up on your way out of the house. 

  1. Assist in preparing lunch for the students. 

You should take some time the night before preparing your lunch (or your kids’ lunches) if you plan to take them to work or school. This will prevent you from having to prepare lunches in the morning. When I am cooking dinner, sometimes I will cook a little bit extra so that we can have leftovers for the next day’s lunch. When I put it away, I will portion it out so that everyone has something to take with them so that they have something to eat throughout the day. 

  1. Organize the kitchen so that everything is in its proper place. 

Make sure all dinner stuff is put away and all the dishes are in the dishwasher (see #11). All the counters should be wiped down and all paperwork should be placed where it belongs. 

  1. Decide what breakfast you are going to have the following morning. 

The night before, take a few minutes to think about what breakfast you are going to have the next day. Get the dishes out of the cupboard and place them on the table, as well as any non-perishable items you may have. As a result, if you are running short on time, older children can prepare their own breakfast if they are old enough. In addition, there is no argument over what we will have for breakfast- it has already been decided. 

  1. The house needs to be straightened up. 

You should spend a few minutes making sure that all dirty clothes are in the hamper and that all clean clothes have been put away. If you wake up to a neat and tidy house, you will be able to start your day off with a smile on your face. 

  1. Decide what you will wear the next day. 

The next thing you want to do is take a look at your “to do” list and determine what you need to wear for your tasks and choose an outfit for the day (including your underwear). The majority of the time, I will hang my outfit on the hook in the bathroom so that I don’t have to go anywhere to get dressed. You should also ensure all children have their outfits out for the next day as well- again, this means there will be no arguing, as everything will have already been decided! 

  1. Let’s take a deep breath. 

You should take a few moments to look around you and see what you have managed to accomplish. Now, think about how much time you will be saving when you wake up the next morning. You should remember that even if you’ve done all of these now, that doesn’t mean that you should hit the snooze button the next morning – you should still get up and get the day started! 

The Best Way to Start Your Day

  1. Make sure you go to bed at a reasonable hour the night before. 

It will be more elaborate on this later, but before going to bed, be sure that you get your bag/briefcase together, choose your outfit, and set your alarm. It will save you valuable time the next day if you take care of some of the essentials the night before. It is important that you get to bed at a decent hour so that you can get the sleep that you need to be able to function properly the next day. 

  1. Avoid hitting the snooze button. 

It is an evil trick to make use of the snooze button. There’s no doubt that you may think you’re getting “five more minutes” of sleep, but in actuality, you’re not. If you do not enjoy waking up early, you can place your alarm clock on the other side of the room so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off. I advise you to sleep in.  

  1. You need to leave the bedroom. 

The first thing you should do when you wake up in the morning is get out of bed and leave your bedroom. If you stay in your room, it may be easy to feel tempted to bury yourself in your bed once again. Make yourself a cup of coffee or go brush your teeth to get rid of that morning breath by running to the kitchen. 

  1. You should drink a glass of cold water. 

In order to help you wake up, you should drink a glass of cold water. As a bonus, it is going to help jumpstart your metabolism, which will end up helping you lose weight, leading you to become a happier, healthier you! As soon as I drink my water, I always have to get myself a cup of coffee to drink. 

  1. Make sure you exercise regularly. 

It is important to start your day off with some kind of physical activity, whether it is a run, some yoga, or whatever you like to do, as this will help to get your body moving and your blood flowing. As well as being good for your health in general, it is also good for your body. 

  1. Make sure you take a shower. 

It might be better if you took a shower the night before, if you are one of those people who prefers to stand in bed and wait until the last possible moment to get up and get out of bed. However, if you have the time, you might find that taking a shower in the morning will allow you to shake off the sleep from the night before and wake yourself up. 

  1. Start your day with a healthy breakfast. 

The problem is that, although most people do this last- or even in the car on the way to work- if possible, it is best if you can get your breakfast before you get dressed so you won’t have to worry about spilling on your work clothes. Breakfast has always been said to be the most important meal of the day and it is absolutely true. You can choose from healthy options such as oatmeal, eggs, sausage, bacon, smoothies, fruits, toast, or yogurt. You should take the time the night before to think about what you’re going to eat so that you don’t have to worry about it the next morning. 

  1. Prepare yourself for the day ahead. 

Let’s take a moment to clean our faces, brush our hair, apply our makeup, put on deodorant, and brush your teeth.There is a reason why you should avoid brushing your teeth right after eating or drinking because eating/drinking weakens the enamel on your teeth and brushing right away can cause the enamel to wash away – washed away- however, you can use mouthwash, chewinAfter eating, you should wait at least an hour before brushing your teeth.Wait at least an hour after eating to brush. 

  1. Don’t forget to get dressed. 

Getting dressed is the next step after washing your face, brushing your hair, applying makeup (if necessary) and deodorant. It will be easy to do since you have already chosen your clothes (including your undergarments) the night before. 

  1. Arrive five minutes early to the meeting. 

Check to see if your transportation is working properly. For example, if you use public transportation, make sure that there are no delays. Make sure that your route does not involve any delays or detours if you are driving yourself. You can make a big difference in your ability to make it in time to work (or school) if you give yourself a five-minute cushion. 

  1. Come up with a plan

It is imperative that you develop a plan for yourself in order to have a productive day. Set long-term goals as well as short-term goals. You should make a list of your “to do” tasks (see #13) and devise a plan to follow in order to accomplish them. In the event that you don’t have a plan in mind for achieving your goals, you’re likely to face difficulties in accomplishing them. 

  1. Prioritize the items on your “To Do” list according to their priority

After you have made a “to-do” list, it is time to put the tasks in the order of priority. It is recommended for you to put the project that you have only one week to work on first, if you have two projects on your desk- one that you need to finish in a week and another that you need to finish in three weeks. By doing this, you’ll be able to get it out of the way. You should also make sure that if you have unfinished work from the day before, you take the time to finish it before moving on to something else (this is something I find sometimes a challenge, since I often get so many things going, I don’t always prioritize). 

  1. Choosing the Right Priorities for Your Work. 

The order of priority of your tasks must be made clear to you in #22, as you can see. 

  1. Take advantage of your commute. 

I know that on your commute, you may enjoy listening to some great music- but why not use that time for something more constructive and productive like listening to self-improvement books on cassette or learning a foreign language during that time? Why not get your inspiration running by listening to some motivational/inspirational CDs? As a result of the technology we have today, if you are taking public transportation, take a few moments to catch up on your emails for the day, to make your commute a little less stressful when you get to the office. 

  1. Make sure you take breaks from time to time. 

I’m sure you’re wondering how in the world you can be productive when you’re taking breaks every now and then, aren’t you? That’s what I thought as wIt turns out that taking breaks actually improves your productivity. In fact, you will find that if you take a few minutes to get up and walk away, you are actually able to redirect your attention when you return. In order to avoid taking haphazard breaks in your day, make sure that the breaks are scheduled in your daily plan, so that they are not taken haphazardly. 

  1. Avoid conflicts at all costs. 

Unless you have a plan for improving them yourself, you have to learn to accept things as they are and the way they are. By whining and complaining you will only compound the issues and cause conflicts. Obviously, you are not going to change the fact that your boss wanted that presentation on his desk last week and only told you about it today- so just do it. You might want to consider getting a new computer, fixing your current computer, or dealing with it if it is giving you problems. 

  1. Adapt your attitude to the situation. 

The most important thing you can do to have a wonderful and productive day is to change your attitude. It is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy that people with a negative attitude will have a bad day. You need to have a positive attitude to be able to accept life as it comes (see #26) and to have a wonderful and productive day. You are going to face challenges today so rise to the occasion. 

  1. Avoid gossip at all costs. 

It is impossible not to get labeled as inefficient and ineffective if you partake in the latest gossip, whether you listen to it or spread it. If this happens, more problems may arise. Additionally, you can also end up having a negative attitude, which can potentially ruin your day if you are not careful. To avoid this, you should try your best. The next time someone comes to you and wants to talk about something, politely tell them that you are not interested in discussing it in the office. 

  1. It is important to always strive for improvement. 

In order to remain successful, you should always strive to improve yourself, whether it is through taking classes or reading books. There are some great abilities and talents that you already have – all you have to do is find ways to improve on them so that you become even more productive and successful in your life. 

  1. Decide what milestones you would like to reach. 

I think having an idea of what you want to see your life look like in five, ten, or twenty years is a great thing to do. To make your dreams come true, you must set some milestones to help you get there. For example, if you want to one day be the president of the company, and right now you are the secretary of the company- set some milestones to help you achieve that ultimate goal. 

How to Teach Kids to Develop Morning Habits

  1. Make sure everything is in order. 

In addition to what was mentioned previously, you should ensure that your lunch and backpack are packed and ready for the next day. Pick out school clothes and prepare breakfast for the next day. In order for kids to learn responsibility and carry it to adulthood, you can have them do these tasks, as long as they are old enough and able to handle them. 

  1. Make sure your children have a clock that can wake them up in the morning. 

Providing kids with an alarm clock is a great idea if they are old enough to get up on their own and go to school in the morning. You can even take them to the store with you so they can choose their own. There’s a very good chance they will use it more often if they have one they like. 

  1. Make sure your children get enough sleep. 

Surely you are aware of the fact that kids (in particular teens) need more sleep than most adults. Ensure that your child goes to bed early enough that he/she will be able to get the sleep he/she needs to have a good day the next day. 

  1. Engage the children in the process. 

Make sure that the kids take part in developing a routine of their own as mentioned previously. Give them tasks that are age-appropriate for them to perform. There isn’t anything wrong with expecting your kindergartener to prepare his/her own breakfast, but you can expect him/her to put dirty clothes in the hamper, get himself/herself dressed, and do a few other things. 

  1. You will need to create a morning routine chart. 

There are different ways in which kids learn. It is possible that your kids are like mine in that they are visual learners, which means they will learn more by seeing rather than by reading. Then have them make a chart using words and pictures and have them check off each of the tasks as they are completed. This will teach them responsibility and give them a sense of accomplishment. 

  1. Make sure that you set up a rewards system. 

Make sure you have a reward system in place to motivate them to follow their daily routine. It will be necessary for you to take the time to check behind them to make sure that they are actually completing the tasks, but it won’t take long to do so. Toward the end of each week, give them something to look forward to – a special dessert, a meal, or something else that you decide on. 

Make sure you get some sleep

  1. Don’t forget to get some sun during the day. 

By spending some time out in the sun during the day, you will actually be able to help your body to produce more melatonin, which in turn will allow you to get some good sleep at night. In this case it is not a miracle cure, but if you take the time to get outside and be active what you will find is that you will suffer from fewer restless nights in the future. 

  1. Exercise is a good thing to do. 

In fact, getting some exercise is actually one of the best things you can do to relax. If, however, you exercise too soon before going to bed, the endorphins will have the opposite effect and will keep you awake, so you must make sure that you don’t exercise too close to bedtime. 

  1. It is important to stop stimulants as soon as possible. 

In the evenings, you should stay away from alcohol and caffeine. The fact is that even though alcohol can help you to fall asleep, it will actually end up causing you to be unable to stay asleep. Smoking and the use of tobacco products can also make it difficult for you to fall asleep. 

  1. Create a routine for going to bed at night. 

By creating a bedtime routine, you can train your body to get a good night’s sleep. Take some time to relax whether it is by reading a book or taking a warm bath if you are wide awake before you get in bed. You should avoid doing any work or physical activity close to bedtime. Write down anything that is on your mind so that you don’t have to think about it.
